KULTURLANDSCHAFT was produced in the context of the project cp3 (civil-public-private-partnerships). cp3 examined the contribution of collaborative initiatives and strategies to the preservation of biodiversity and ecosystem-services to protected cultural landscapes.

For this purpose three case studies with different approaches were analyzed in Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands.
In the nature park Jauerling-Wachau various local stakeholders strive for sustainable agriculture to preserve the unique cultural landscape by the Danube.
For the biosphere reserve Spreewald, south of Berlin, it has proven successful to integrate the different parties and interest groups into the water regulation of the Spree. Furthermore, a community foundation helps to top up the lean public funds for the preservation of the cultural landscape through civic involvement.
In the municipal Berg en Dal (Rhine Waal region), a pilot project with local farmers is realized for collaborative planning and implementation of long-term financial agri-environmental measures, thereby increasing the ecosystem-service diversity.
